First Stampede Breakfast of 2011
After way to long again a post and I will try to post more often 
Even though Stampede in Calgary this year starts on July 8th 2011, yesterday was the day that I got my first Stampede Breakfast of 2011.
As you may not know but Calgary has one big party for like a 10 days every year. This year Stampede starts at July 8th with the parade (even Prins William and his new wife will be here) and then the on the Stampede grounds all kind of things for instance animal action like rodeo, food, concerts, rides and much much more. It is HUGE and people for all over the world will be having loads of fun.
And besides all the activities at the Stampede grounds there are lots of things happening in town to.
Free pancake breakfast is one of those things. And yesterday I went to my first one.
This one was held by Amaranth Whole Foods Market and that meant gluten free pancakes, organic juice and turkey sausage.
The buckwheat pancakes ware great. Different then the usual kind of pancakes but very good.
Let me give your the Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups of buckwheat flour (they used light buckwheat flour)
- 1/2 cup all purpose gluten free flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cups rice milk (they used Natura)
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup oil
Directions:
- Mix dry ingredients together
- Mix wet ingredients together
- Pour the wet mixture over the dry mixture and blend well however leave some clumps (this ensures a fluffier pancake)
This recipe make 20 pancakes using approx. 1/4 cup of batter per pancake
So now you can go try to make those great pancakes.
As you can see on my picture the food looked great and tasted great to, I almost took a picture of the empty plate but didn’t think there was much interest in that.
Besides the long line for the food there was music and tickets that would give you a changes to win prices.
All in all a fun time on a dry Saturday morning.
If or are in Calgary always keep you eyes open for a Stampede breakfast because it’s fun and mostly free food.
And of course don’t forget to dress up like a real cowboy!
Easter And Then
Happy Easter all of you.
Today is one of those days that have a double feeling for me. OK I didn’t tell you that besides running all kinds of blogs and websites I also work for a greeting card company (who doesn’t allow me to write witch one).
As you can imagine tomorrow is the day that all the seasonal cards are gone change. Easter cards come down and Mothers day and Graduation go up. Nothing wrong with that you think. But for me this is the worst part of my job. Why you wonder?
Let me tell you what happens to the old cards. They end up in the GARBAGE! in the most positive way they will be send to a recycling centre on the other side of the country. But in a lot of stores I need to dispose of them myself and I am NOT allowed to put them in the paper recycling. They need to be thrown out in real dirty garbage (preferably wet) so that nobody could steal them.
I would because of this ask anybody who reads this to just stop buying greeting cards.
Just send ecards or make something yourself. Just think that for every 5 cards you buy 1 ends up in the trash (and yours end up there to eventually).

Earth Day 2011 (Earth Day Everyday)
Today is Earth Day and that means that we all should at least try to take care of our planet for 1 day. But of course it should not stop with just the one day. Taking care of our environment is something that doesn’t have to be hard and is easy to do everyday.
Let me first talk about somethings I do / did that help our planet everyday.
- Turn off the light when you are not in the room
- Use energy saving light bulbs (LED is best right now)
- Unplug unused power eating devices like charges without something connected to it.
- Recycle
- Stop unwanted mail like flyers and catalogs
- use reusable bottles instead of plastic bottles (also better for your health)
- use reusable shopping bags
- walk more instead of using your car.
I guess you get the picture. You know what is a great advantage of saving our planet with those kind of things as I just described? It saves you money. Driving less means less fuel and wear of the car. Turning off the lights means less electricity used so a lower bill. And you can go on like that.
There are loads of obvious things that you should think off and will save your wallet and the earth. Let me list some.
- Don’t run an half empty dish washer
- fill your laundry machine instead of half empty
- Walking save you on exercises classes and car use
Then there are things not so obvious that save our Earth and your health.
Did you know that our tab water is most times cleaner then bottled water? So by using a reusable bottle your save your health and you have less waste. And if you don’t use a plastic bottle that will also keep a lot of bad toxins out off your body.
One that the ladies will not believe now Stop using shampoo. Are you aware of how much chemicals you put on your head every time you wash your hair? And not only are you slowly poisoning yourself you also wash it down the drain and eventually making those chemicals ending up in our water witch then needs more cleaning (more chemicals) to be able to be used by us.
I think you get my message and maybe a simple thing we should all do if we didn’t do yet. Star using a reusable coffee mug. Here in Canada most coffee places give you a discount if you use a reusable cup and you get that everyday. And today Starbucks in Canada gives you free coffee or tea if you use a reusable mug. Let It Snow
I like snow and that means even now in April.
Summers are fun and all but heath is a much bigger burden then snow. Snow is fun, you can play in it (yes even at my age) you can clean it (free workout). And you have to admit that driving or walking through a snowy landscape is the best there is.
Complaining about the weather is no use because we can’t change it any ways so you might just as well enjoy it. I really hope that our Calgary winter is not over yet but I guess that I will have accept the fact that snow will get less and less.
And I have to say spring is loads of fun to when all those fresh leaves and flowers start to pop up. But on that note I didn’t see to much happening yet so that could mean that I will have more snow coming.
The only downside of the weather right now is that I want to get back to running after more then a year of not running (leg problems) but I want to start with less risk of hurting myself. And yes I know I could run in the snow and ice and normally no problem but starting I would prefer to do on a clean surface.

New Coupons
I like deals and for me it is a hobby just to go shopping for great deals.
That means that you need to keep up on your coupons. And people always ask me where do you find those coupons.
And besides websites, inserts, coupon books there are loads of coupons to be found in stores.
On the picture you see the coupons I picked up today by just keeping my eyes open while shopping.
And I take almost any coupon because you never know when a product you normally would no buy goes on sale and you get it for free or almost free
When I see coupons for products I do use then I try to take a lot more of them and of course leaving some for others.
How do you get your coupons?
New Header
Like the new top picture?
I didn’t want to keep using other peoples stuff so the default header picture needed to go ASAP.
But then the problem comes…… what am I gone put there.
So I found some random stuff on my desk (yes it is a mess) and took a picture.
I will try to get more header pictures and keep changing them.
Full Circle
Once a long very long time ago GHPsite.com was started as my own personal blog.
And today is the day that we get back to that idea.
As far as I can find GHPsite got registered in 2000 but I personally think it is older.
First it was my blog and those days people didn’t read blogs so nobody read it. Then it became a photography / business blog. And now as I am not making a living with photography any more that site died to. Then it became a place where I just posted photo’s I liked and that site never got any updates for 1.5 years.
And then I got an itch that I wanted to have a place to blog. Not like my other sites that I use as part of my lively hood but just for fun and what ever I like to talk about.
So from today on GHPsite is back.
The plan is to post everyday and I will do my best to get posts online. And if I have a day that I miss just check out my other sites as there will always be something new on one of them
