Prairy Dog shows it’s teeth

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

This little fellow was making a lot of noise he almost sounds like a bird.

I was able to get a good shot at him as he was on a little hill it looks like I was lying down when taking this photo but no I was just standing.

After a little wait he finaly did his yell again and this time I got the shot and that is how I got him with his mouth open.

Moose eating

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

This is the proof that nature photography is not that difficult.

So last Saterday I drive in to Sheep River Provincial Park here in Alberta (Canada) and there right next to the road was this mama Moos eating some of the tree’s while her two young where enjoying themselves a bit behind her.

Of course you need to keep your distance specially when young are involved but this Moose kept an eye but let me come fairly close .

But that does not mean that it becomes easier to take the shot you are hoping for. I tried to take picutres of the baby moose but the only thing they wanted in the pictures where there behinds. And even this mother Moose did not want to part from the tree she was standing behind.

A well at least I got some shots of a Moose in the wild.

Wolf Napping

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I like this photo of the wolf hiding in between the leaves ready for a nap but still keeping a watchfull eye on it’s surroundings.

OK you guessed right this shot was not taken in the wild but at the wolf center in Golden. A great place if you want to see a couple of wolfs.

I was lucky that the fence was not more visible then it is and the colors of the leaves worked really wel creating this feeling of hide and seek.

Tourist watching

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Just like they do not want you to watch wildlife in Banff Nationalpark but yeah what do you do when you find a big deer like this just hanging out on the edge of town next to the walk path.

Most tourist don’t seem to remember that this is a WILD animal and they go pretty close as you can see on this photo.

A well once dare helps me to make some interesting photo’s.

Deer by the river

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

This big fellow I found wandering the sides of the Bow river in Banff. Lots of tourist also wanted the picture and I have an nice one planned for tomorrow.

photo wise the picture is OK but I liked how the background worked with this big deer.

Cute little Squirrel

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

This picture was taken at a busy tourist stop in the mountains. And this little squirrel knows that they have food for him. This fellow was so not scared of people that he ate out of kids hands.

So sad but now when winter is hitting the mountains he has to collect his own food because there is no tourist left to help him out while he poses for a nice photo.

But enough about that. I just love this photo and the way this little fellow wants to know what happends around him. My Canon Camera was quick enough to capture him sharp and without movement.

Yummy yummy

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This little squirrel was happy with what other left him. Unfortunately people leave way to much food in nature those little creatures are well prepared to look for real food instead of m&m’s.

I really liked the photo and the process of making it. This little animal would sneak up on me and then when i would look he would run and as soon as i turned my head he came back. And yes one time he was not quick enough and I got him.

Gophy

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

OK here is Gophy he was very interestid in me or at least in the option of me having food for him but of course you don’t feed animals in the wild because then they stop being wild.

But he modedeld for me and as long as I kept talking he kept looking.
